Suede Shoe Blues

from Kamikaze Cupcake: A Life by Englewood

about

Wherein KC looks for love and finds it (and we find out she’s an astrophysicist and midnight musician/busker)..

lyrics

I was up all night in my blue suede shoes.
I was up all night with the Suede Shoe Blues,
Roaming the observatory, waiting for the stars to align.
Looking for a planet. Maybe that planet is mine.

I’ve been all night in my blue suede shoes.
I’ve been up all night with the Suede Shoe Blues,
Running my observatory, waiting for the heavens to part.
Looking for a black hole, like the one that’s in my heart.

Kamikaze Cupcake’s astrophysics work is first rate.
But Kamikaze Cupcake is missing something
that just can’t wait.
Kamikaze Cupcake is looking for a soul-mate.

When I left there at dawn I still wore my blue suede shoes.
I went down to a club where they
play righteous suede shoe blues.
I tried to play me some numbers,
but they said I still had to pay my dues.

So I went down to the subway where I can always find a spot.
I was singing my tunes when I noticed the crowd part.
Looking back at me was the answer to my heart.

Kamikaze Cupcake has found her own true love.
They fit together like a hand inside a glove.
Kamikaze Cupcake is thanking her stars above.

I’ve been up all night in my blue suede shoes.
I’ve been up all night but without those Suede Shoe Blues,
I’ve been showing off my observatory,
showing how the stars can align,
I know I found a heaven; this time that heaven is mine.
