Don't Want to Say Goodbye

from Long Shadows by Englewood

/

lyrics

I don't think he'd want us to cry too much.
I don't think he'd want us to die too much.
I don't want to say goodbye, though.
It's too much.

You lived with smile in your eye.
Your laugh could light up the sky.
But now your soul is ready to fly.

So many people in our journeys day to day.
So many pass like flames or shadows along the way.
But others are part of your whole.
They mark your soul.

If it wasn't so cold and gray today,
Maybe I'd find a way to say
That though people leave it's all OK.
But not today.

I guess the price loving a friend is that they leave.
I guess we're lucky if we're blessed enough to grieve.
But I'm not sure yet if that's what I believe.

So many people in our journeys day to day.
So many pass like flames or shadows along the way.
But others are part of your whole.
They mark your soul.

I don't think he'd want us to cry too much.
I don't think he'd want us to die too much.
I don't want to say goodbye, though.
It's too much.
