Packed up the car, start the day with the sun.
Cruise control is set, heading south on Highway 101.
Ticked away the miles getting out of the city,
Into the heart of the state where it’s so pretty.

A cool glass of wine at the end of the day
Makes me feel warmly towards the
place we’re going to stay tonight.
Spend a day or two exploring all around,
Looking for the best taqueria in town.

The road stretching on, as far as I can see
Lets me feel hopeful, lets me feel free.
Until the fog rolls in and blocks out the sun
I’ll keep cruising south on Highway 101.

The next stop south from San Diego
Is the border, but there’s no time for Mexico today.
So here’s where we’ll turn around
To head back home , north to Oaktown.
